From Gaming America:
Sportech on Monday said sports betting now is live at three of the company’s flagship sports bars in Connecticut, located in Stamford, Bradley and New Haven.
In August, Sportech revealed it had entered an agreement with the Connecticut Lottery Company (CLC) to deliver sports betting in the Constitution State at its “Winners” branded venues and through web and mobile betting channels.
It has been a busy two weeks since Connecticut went live with gambling on October 19. Sportech said it held a soft launch at the three venues last week, prior to today’s announcement.
Sportech said it plans to roll out sports betting at its other seven sports bars in Connecticut over the next two weeks.
As reported by Gaming America, GeoComply said the first week of legal gambling in Connecticut saw 1.2m transactions recorded, high traffic the company suggested was a result of residents of New York crossing the state line to wager.
Connecticut surpassed Colorado in number of transactions, despite having 2m fewer residents, GeoComply said.
“The demand for sports betting has been around for many years now, and following a successful soft launch, we are delighted to be offering it to our customers,” Sportech CEO Andrew Lindley said in a statement. “This is a significant step forward for our Connecticut business and further strengthens our relationship with the state’s gaming arm, CLC, and with Rush Street Interactive, who is CLC’s sportsbook provider. Customer interest in sports betting continues to grow significantly in the US and we look forward to being a part of the story and to working with our partners and welcoming a new set of customers to our venues.”
In addition to its Connecticut operations, Sportech is a UK Gambling Commission-licensed provider of lottery games and iLottery software.
